Rovinj (Rovigno in Italian) is a fishing port and resort town on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, Croatia. Its old town is built on a headland that was an island until 1763, when the channel was filled to connect it to the mainland. The result is a warren of steep, narrow lanes, pastel-coloured houses, and galleries that open directly onto the Adriatic.
The town is dominated by the Church of St. Euphemia, whose 60-metre bell tower is visible from every webcam that faces the old town. To the north, the Lim Fjord cuts deep into the Istrian interior. To the south, the Zlatni Rt forest park offers pine-shaded coves and cycling trails. Rovinj is also the gateway to the Brijuni Islands National Park and the vineyards of inland Istria.
